Armagnac may be the oldest spirit in France yet it remains a mystery to most drink professionals and aficionados alike. Recognizing that there is a great lack of knowledge of this fine AOC/AOP brandy within the drinks industry, the B.N.I.A. (Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac)launched an educational program known as Armagnac Academies. Successful Armagnac Academies have already been held in London, Beijing and New York. After sold-out sessions in New York in 2015 and 2016, this 1-day Armagnac immersion program is returning to New York City on Tuesday, May 16, 2017!
Your Armagnac Academy day will entail a full day of intensive learning including lectures, tastings and a written exam. Successful candidates will earn an official B.N.I.A. Certified Qualification issued directly from France.
Attendees will gain a deep insight into the diverse world of Armagnac from grapes to vinification and from distillation to maturation. Tastings will include a sampling of newly distilled spirits from each region and each grape variety, along with younger and older blends and some single varietal Armagnac. This one-day program will be held in the state of the art ‘Study’ at Astor Center, conveniently located in the Noho district of Manhattan. Your $150 registration fee includes 6 hours of instruction, a tasting of close to 40 different Armagnacs, 2 half-hour coffee breaks, plus an exam. The schedule includes a 1.5 hour break for lunch, but please note that lunch is not included in the registration fee.
Sommeliers, bartenders, retailers, importers and distributors looking to expand their knowledge of Armagnac will greatly benefit from this terrific, one-of-a-kind, educational program.
